Posed Newborn

November 9, 2018

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…one of the things I love best about maternity and newborn photography is that I know I’ll be seeing the same families at least twice (and hopefully more!) in a short period of time. When I started my photography business, I was open to shooting practically anything that moved! Family photography, senior photography, headshots, whatever! I’d take it all.

As time has passed, however, I’ve started to develop a little niche for myself and I’m delighted that when people Google me looking for a photographer, more times than not, they are requesting maternity and newborn photography sessions. I swear, nothing kicks up my heart rate faster than seeing one of these inquiries in my inbox.

The family I’m featuring today is one of those inquiries. In a surprising twist of fate, Brandon (my husband’s name is Brandon) reached out about his wife, Liz (my name is Liz) wanting a maternity session. Well, I already knew I was going to need to do these photos because they were for Liz and Brandon. I didn’t even need to meet them to know that they were going to be cool (they totally were). I immediately felt like they could be my kindred spirits from their sassy back and forth communication with each other. Brandon is actually the one who contacted me (I LOVE when the husbands take the lead on getting photos done!) and when he tagged Liz on the email, their silly banter back and forth made me smile (“wife, fill out the form please” and her response, “This guy!  He only bosses me when he’s hiding behind a keyboard lol.  Don’t you have some painting to do in the nursery, sir?”). So, first interactions were great. Then they show up to the shoot and Liz had 1) a pair of cowboy boots (yessss) and 2) a sweet flower accessory that she had made to accentuate her beautiful pregnant tummy – whaaaat? I loved her style immediately and these two made my job SO easy. Just look at how amazing they are together ❤️

As a follow-up to her parent’s gorgeous maternity session, I present baby girl Renley. She is the spitting image of her daddy and she was just angelic at her newborn studio session. We had a bit of fun dressing her up in her very own Wonder Woman costume – isn’t she darling???

If you’d like to catch up on these maternity and newborn photography alums, check out Renley’s one year cake smash here. Her cuteness is not to be missed ❤️
